Riomaggiore Cinque Terre Card - train & boat??
Posted: Sun June 3, 2007 04:40 PM UTC
It sounds like there is a Cinque Terre Card that would include train & boat service (as well as the entry to hike on the trail). Does anybody know more information about this? Will we be able to buy this pass when we get to the train station in La Spezia? What we would ideally like to do is take the train from La Spezia to Riomaggiore, then hike the 5 hour trail up to Monterosso, then take the boat all the way back to La Spezia. Thanks!

I might be mistaken, BUT the way I understood is : it is the train between + buses inside the villages + the entrancefees to the National Park, that is part of the hiking-trail.
Ships are so many different ones, they are mostly private companies and for sure not included in these tickets !

Globetrott is indeed mistaken - the card no longer includes trains, see http://www.baranin.com/default.php?MainFile=003/cinque-terre/card/index.php.
Also, there is a separate Cinque Terre ferry card, for ferries within the national park only, not to La Spezia.

So it sounds like the new Cinque Terre card ONLY includes the entrance to the park for the hiking trail? And then there are seperate cards for either train or ferry? Will it be easy for us to buy these passes for train / ferry when we arrive in La Spezia? I did see this website that runs a ferry from La Spezia to each of the 5 villages: http://www.navigazionegolfodeipoeti.it/htm/eng/index.php but I didn't know if there are others out there.

There is a card that *does* include trains. As far as I can tell, the 5 euro card no longer includes train, but the 8 euro one does. My Italian is near zero, so you may look yourself - follow through on the link at the end of the link suggested earlier in this thread, http://www.baranin.com/default.php?MainFile=003/cinque-terre/card/index.php

and it takes you to http://www.parconazionale5terre.it/upload/TARIFFETRENI2007.pdf

Hi I have just returned (1st June 07) and can tell you that there are two types of Cinque Terre cards, the basic one that includes all trails, entrance to museums, use of the village shuttle buses and a 10% discount off products sold at the information offices this costs 5 euros for one day or 10 euros for 3 days, there is also a 7 day one. The other includes all the above but includes unlimited use of the train within the national park stations. This costs 8 euros and 18 euros. Neither includes the ferry boats. These are private and the cost is 5 or 6 euros from village to village. The trains are 1 or 2 euros between villages. You must have the card to start on the trails, there are check points, you can buy one there or at any of the train stations.
