We've been told by the travel agent to get our visas on arrival at Luxor airport. What documentation do you need? is it just your passports and tickets?

Hi there
all you need is your passport and the tourist card which you fill in on the flight. Also make sure you have the right money to pay for the visa. We paid £10 Sterling pounds or you can pay 15 $ US Dollars. Hope you have a great time. take care, Stacey x

Hi Georgie,
I've been wracking my brains trying to think of something Luxorlass has not mentioned. Hi Jan, but all I can come up with is. Before you leave home make sure you have a tenner to put in each passport for visas then soon as you have cleared imigration try to send one of your party to the windows where they are being dished out to grab a place in the queue, handing over your passport with money in it always seems some sort of exciting as if you're bribing your way into the country or something....too much "Enid Blyton" as a child I think... and if you want to get to your Hotel before everybody else, grab a taxi. You will be settled in your room before the coach arrives with the rest. Well worth a fiver in my book. Just be insistant that you do not need him the next day or he will try to do you a deal on the whole week. If you fancy a Felucca trip while you are there, Jan (Luxorlass)can put you in touch with a real nice fella "Captian Tayib". I doubt if you'll go just the once, have a great time. Peace and love...Jim...

Oh yes that would be good. I'm also still debating the timing of our day in Cairo. I'm in a quandry about what time to leave to fly back...I've read that the museums etc close at 6.30 and I know the market shuts late but is it safe to wander around Cairo until about 9pm or should we get an earlier flight? I'm assuming we're ok to just go into any hotel for a meal? Do we definitely need a guide? How do you know you get a good one and not get ripped off? Does the guide stay glued to you all day? How are is the airport from the town/pyramids...I'm sorry, I know I ask loads of questions but I'm a little nervous and like to be well prepared when I go anywhere! thanks for your help.

Hi Georgie,
Try looking at this site "egyptwithmara" she may be able to put you in touch with a reputable guide in Cairo. She is a mine of information. Jim.

I believe some countries citizens require a visa for Egypt before entering. They cannot get a visa on entry. I can not find this list of countries on the internet. Does anyone know the web site where they have this list?
