| Ko Phi Phi Don | Should I be doing this... Posted: Sat June 2, 2007 11:53 PM UTC
Hi, I'm trying to book 4 nights (some special offer) in Phi Phi Villa Resort at the moment. However, they want me to email them my credit card details to book it. Now obviously I'm aware that this would be a bit silly to email someone credit card details but then again this must be the way many other guests have booked their rooms. Has anyone stayed there before, and if they have how did they pay? Any anecdotes / advice would be very welcome.
Thanks |

I have not dealt with this particular hotel, but I have booked others in Thailand using the same method. I can understand your concern, but let's get things into perpsective. Your credit card details will be in an e-mail. Now I am not sure how many e-mails criss cross the internet on a daily basis but it has to be millions. So there is a multi-million to 1 chance that your e-mail will be intercpted by somebody intent on fraud. Now comapre that with the number of times you hand your card to a waiter, shop assistant etc and they take out of your sight with an opportunity to make a complete and perfect copy...

I agree with John, it seems to be the norm, I booked accomodation in thailand via the same method, not at the same place but it was for accomodation in Thailand.

NO! never put financial info in an email.
You could phone them and give over the phone. You could also tell your credit card company that a transaction with xxxx for xxxx will occur BUT only that transaction in Thailand. Phone and put in writing. ie forewarn againt fraud - ehich is big in Thailand Anyway most "special" deals turn out to be expensive compared to what you can get by just haggling and paying cash on arrival

All the hotels I booked in Thailand I did this and have no problems.
All credit cards have security sistem in case of problems.
