| Melaka | Singapore to Melaka travel Posted: Tue May 29, 2007 02:56 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
I am planning to travel to Melaka from Singapore by bus along with my son and two small kids. I have two queries 1. What would be a comfortable way (especially with two samll kids) of travelling to Melaka and at the same time economical? 2. What would be a nice hotel to stay at Melaka? |

You can find cheap buses from Singapore at Lavender Street bus station. There's a singapore-melaka express bus or maybe u can try transnational : http://www.nadi.com.my/transportation_routes_express.asp. A Malaysian bus company
should be relatively cheap and it only takes about 3hours to melaka (i think) so it should be ok. Nice hotel. Well ages ago, I stayed at hotel Mimosa. It was good then. As to it's condition now, I'd cross my fingers :)

Thanks Rajah for your inputs which are useful. Did you also stay at A'Famosa resort or did you just visit the resort? Based on your lead I am planning to book 3 nights at the resort..

Hey there...
I wld recommend Delima coach... at S$16.OO per pax. ... I took it last month and found it quite comfortable. You can purchase the tics fr. the Lavendar St. bus interchange (it's at the open grounds opp. the S'pore Caskets building). As for hotel to stay... if u wanna have good food and shopping... i wld recommend u to stay near Jonkers St. ... Hotel Puri just behind Jonkers St. ... nice environment too... u'll probably need 2 rms at ~RM126 per night. It's withing walking distance to Jonkers St (abt. 3mins away only), Red House (Christ Church Melaka) and The Stadthuys (8-10mins) and Mahkota and Dataran Pahlawan malls (~15-20mins)... all by foot tht is... fr the Sentral Melaka station walk to its domestic section and take the town bus (take the one going to Banda Hilir, n tell the driver to let u get off at the Red Hse(Christ Church Melaka... say "merah" (red))... abt RM1 per passenger then fr the red hse walk to ur hotel (b careful of speeding cars along the narrow lanes i must say... hold to on to ur kids!!)... if not u can take a cab at ~RM20 to ur hotel (hope they take all 5 of u... tho)... alright then enjoy ur trip!! I believe you are looking to entertain your son and the kids. Perhaps A'Formosa or Water World would be right for them. However, as in the previous reply, Jonker Street night bazaar may appeal. You may include visiting the Studhuys and St Francis Xavier's Tomb on the hill, taste some Chendol and visit little India a stone's throw away. Book a nite at Hotel Puri in a Family Room (they have a few there). It's behind Jonker Street, convenient after strolling the night.
BTW, from Sentral Bus Station, catch bus no. 17. The rest had been explained in the previous reply. Cheers.
