| Adelaide | Melbourne to Adelaide to Kangaroo Island (Return) Posted: Tue May 29, 2007 12:59 AM UTC
Hi all,
A friend and I are planning to go to Kangaroo Island from Melbourne for a couple of days. I know that the quickest way to get there is fly to Adelaide. Would like to know if anyone has been on this route before. I would like to know what's the most cost effective way of travel to and from Kangaroo Island. We're thinking of leaving on a thursday night, stay in Adelaide for most of the day and get the last transport out to Kangaroo Island on Friday night. Then return from Kangaroo Island in the afternoon and hopefully make it to Melbourne by nightfall. Any deals on flights/transport/accomodation/tourist spots would be most welcome...even if you could send me links to where I can get this info I'd be really glad. Talk soon! Lisa. |

Hi
There is a ferry from Cape Jervis to Kangaroo Island several times a day and it is cheap, maybe $40 per person. But, there is so much to see on KI that you need to spend more than 1 day. I would say stay for 4-5 days, hire a car or book some tours-- KI is like a microcosm of all the best Australia has to offer-- beautiful scenery, wildlife(echidna, kangaroo, koala, wallaby, penguin, seal)and lovely, friendly people. Oh, if you catch a bus from Adelaide to Cape Jervis that will be another $40 per person approx. So beautiful, wish I was coming, Fiona
