Is it necessary to book a tour or guide to see the Falls (Argentinean side and Brazilian side) or do I just take a bus to the park entrance?

No need for a guided tour. Just go to the entrance, walk around, stop where you want and enjoy the fantastic scenery. See for more info:

You can easily do by your own , by bus or taking a taxi to the brasilian side that is not very expensive
In Argentina side , make the "Gran Aventura" , you ride in a boat under the waterfalls .You may contract it in the park or if a taxi takes you to the waterfalls he can go with you , he gets "his" money you get the same price for the Aventura and he makes you a good price of the ride (You must negotiate before) In Brasil side the Birds Park is very interesting and if you have a lot of money you may think in a helicopter travel Buen viaje !!!!
