Hi, Sanya VT,

I understand that Singapore imports New Balance and Reebok shoes from China and the selling prices cover the import taxes and delivery costs. In Haikou and Sanya, are the selling prices of the same brand shoes lower than in Singapore? How much do they cost? Where to find these shoes? Does anyone know?

I am planning to go to Hainan again but direct flight to Haikou costs a lot!!!

I would be routing via Macau and Shenzhen instead.

Yes expensive Singapore - Haikou in June. Only Singapore - Macau cheap.

Sorry, I haven't heard of this brand in sanya. But if you would like, you can go shopping in the downtown, there are many malls, maybe you can find them. Not sure whether it is lower than your country, but many foreigners told me shopping in sanya is much cheaper than their countries. So still need to pick some commidities here.

You mean Singapore<->Haikou tickets are not cheap at this time? Yes, I heard many singaporean told me the cheaper tickets will be released till Oct. So if you don't mind the arrival time, you can consider come to sanya later. That sounds much expensive!

Bwy, if you would like fly to Macau and Shenzhen first, that's ok, but I don't think it it valuable, for Macau and Shenzhen<->sanya tickets is still not cheap. So I suggest you'd better fly directly.

I have bought new shoes in Singapore before my trip to Hainan.

i visited Sanya on June 25 and stayed at Jingwei Hotel in Sanya Bay. I visited Deer Looking Back Garden on June 26 morning and took many pictures of the place. Unfortunately, i lost my brother's camera in Haikou on June 27 which contained the pictures as well as the pictures I shot of Shishan Volcanic Geopark.

I was so devastated and at a loss. I did not realise a Haikou burglar had targeted at me along Haixiu Road. There is no obvious clue of anyone folloowing me from behind and stealing my camera from behind and no eye-witness but i lost my camera and later my mobile phone which is already old.

I bought a new camera to compensate my brother and i have to find a new mobile phone myself in Singapore without enjoying the Red Rewards that i enjoy before the mobile phone was lost.

Now, i have to plan a new trip to Sanya and Haikou all over again as i am in commission to do an eco-tourism writing project for Sports + Travel Magazine, Singapore, especially getting independent pictures of the place Shishan Volcanic Geopark.

May i know why burglary at tourists is so serious in Haikou? Is Haikou Police doing something to curb the crime problem in busy areas of Hainan Island? Why doesn't Hainan have a Tourist Police Department establising Police kiosks in busy and popular areas of Hainan island, like Bangkok?

As i see it, Haikou is more like Bangkok now and Sanya is a mixture of Bali and Hong Kong.

tiger airways is cheap if u book online early & off peak (ard S$250 return incl airport tax)

thief / robbery is not so rampant as shenzhen but u hv gotta take precautions. no wallet in back pockets/ hand bag slinging side ways or backpack. i've always carry my small backpack infront or waist pouch.

be very wary of ur surroundings ppl esp crowded places

direct flight is always cheaper if booked early. else try ur luck from sin-macau-haikou. domestic flight is equally ex unless got good disc from travel agent.

Where did you have your camera and mobile phone?
I'm sorry to say that Singaporeans are usually lax with security due to the low crime rate in Singapore. Unfortunately that's a pretty unwise attitude to take when travelling.

i changed my way of bringing my handphone with me after my Hainan trip. Now i put my money and handphone into a neck-sling wallet which i bought from Cebu Pacific Air onboard. And i have changed my way of carrying my back pack. It is now called frontpack.

by the way, are Nanjing and Tianjin safe cities? If i did not want to go to Sanya again, i might target at Nanjing and Tianjin.

Pickpockets are always around in cities, it's just a matter of whether you're a good target or not.
Nanjing and Tianjin aren't particularly "hot" with them so generally speaking I think you'll be fine.

OK Air doesn't fly domestically, IIRC.
Sorry, I do occasionally fly domestically but haven't had the chance to go on those airlines (except Spring Airlines, and they don't really give out airline magazines).
