Re: Zambia National Park Safari's Posted: Mon June 18, 2007 10:32 PM UTC
My wife and I spent 4 nights in Chiawa in July 2004. It was the first stop on a two week safari in Zambia that included South Luwanga and Kafue. Chiawa was wonderful. The Cummings are wonderful hosts. In season it was crowded as was Nsefu in SL, whereas Kafue -- Lunga River Lodge and Busanga Bush Camp we had to ourselves. Each was a different environment. Chiawa lots of stuff revolves around the river. Elephants come into camp and hyenas as well. The tents on permanent bases is best for accomodations in Africa, since you can zip the bugs and bats out -- believe me this is an issue in other places. Your bathroom is cement walls attached to the tent but separated by a zipped barrier in your tent. Fine. Our first night in Africa there was an elephant outside our bathroom! The game is good, better than Kafue, but not as good as SL.
Enjoy Zambia and Chiawa! We loved it and were so lucky to do Zambia and Chiawa on our first trip to Africa
