Kanton Luzern one day in lucerne

How do you get to the starting point of the mount pilatus round trip tour if you are travelling by car from Zurich? If only one day before heading to Zermatt, would you do Mount pilatus and Rigi? Or, Pilatus and Titlis? How would you get from the end of the tour of Pilatus to the start of a tour of Titlis? Would we leave our car all day. After our big day of touring, how long will it take to drive to Zermatt? Thanks so much

Hi, if I understand correctly you do not want to hike but to go on a tour offered by Luzern tourism including a boat trip, the cable car/funicular and cog railroad. As a hiker I was first very impressed by the tour you planned...
I do not know where exactly the pilauts tour starts as there are many possibilities, you can first take the cog train from Alpnachstadt and get there by boat e.g. or first take the funicular. From Luzern to Alpnachstad you can either take the car, it is about 15 minutes along the lakeside or the train or the boat, the latter two being included in the ticket. From Zurich to Luzern you simply take the A2 highway, it takes about 45 minutes. Youll need a so called vignette, costs 27 Euros (all year round), butif you renta car they should have it anyway. I personally would not go on three mountain trips but stick to two. The Rigi is nice to hike, but Titlis is much more spectacular in terms of glaciers, mountain view etc. and I would recommend a Titlis tour.
Starting point is Engelberg, you have to drive there by car from Luzern, it is not far but as the last bit of the raod is just driving into the valley it still takes 40 minutes.
Engelberg itself is not nice (has a great history though, lots of 19th century buildings), but Tiflis is worth the trip.
From Luzern to Zermatt itll take 3 1/2 hours due to small roads in the end.
As has been already posted you have to drive to Taesch and then take a train as cars are not allowed in Zermatt. But thats just a few hundred meters, no big deal.
Hope this helped.
HAve fun.
Gabriele
