Parque Nacional del Iguazł Iguazu in June07?
Posted: Wed May 23, 2007 11:02 AM UTC
Hi,

Anybody who can assist me with these questions below :)

1) Is it good to visit Iguazu during June 07? Will there be a lot of water gushing down from the fall?
2) Is it convenient to get a taxi from Iguazu airport? Is it safe? Is it expensive?
3) Do I really need a tour guide to bring me to the Iguazu falls or I can do it free and easy?
4) Is it convenient to get a cab to Iguazu Falls and back?
5) If I will like to go for the Great Adventure Safari Boat, do I need to book with a tour operator in advance or I can just go for the boat ride when I am at Iguazu falls? What is the charges like per person?

That's all for now!

Hope anyone can help.

(1) The amount of water flowing will be dependent on the amount of rainfall. June is near the end of the dry season, so the falls might not be in all their glory. (2) Don't know, but I used taxis throughout Brazil and they were always reliable and relatively cheap. Depending on where you stay, you might be able to arrange a pickup which would be even better. (3) You do not need a tour guide. It's simple to get to the falls. Rather than a taxi, I would suggest using the public bus which is far cheaper and just as reliable and safe. I also strongly suggest staying at least two days - one to explore the Brazilian side, the other, Argentine side. Both sides are easily reached by bus. (4) See answer to question 3. (5) I don't remember what the charge for the boat ride was, but it should be no problem (particularly in June) booking on arrival. Have a great time.

If you are flying into the Argentine side airport then yes taxi's and remis's (private cars with drivers) are numerous and they are very safe and fairly inexpensive. You can check my Iguazu travel page for a link to the Argentine and Brasilian Parks. There is no need for a tour guide. At the park entrance it is mainly tour buses, I stayed in the park at the Sheraton so if you wnant a taxi back and forth you would have an easier time going to the Sheraton Hotel in the park and getting a lift there. It is about a 20 minute or so ride back into the town of Iguazu. As for the Great Adventure, the one I took was about $80 Arg. and booked it at their desk inside the Sheraton Hotel. You can also book it directly at their park location. By the way you will get wet on the trip up to the falls so dress for it.

As for visiting the Brasilian side I hired a car and driver who picked my up at the Sheraton, drove us across the border to the Brasilian park entrance, waited all day for us and drove us back to the hotel for $120 Arg.

Some friends were just there this weekend and had no complaints about the amount of the flow.

Hope this helps and be sure and check the web sites for the parks on my travel page.

suerte

1) It is not the best time for water flow but the Falls should be impressive nonetheless
2) When we went, we stayed at the San Martin Hotel and Resort which is less than a mile from the airport so it is very safe and secure. The price was right and you know what they say: location, location, location. From there you can walk to the falls so don't need a cab. At the entrance you hop on a bus and get off wherever and whenever you want 3) You DO NOT need a tour guide. 4) Just walk. 5) Just drop by the Safari boat, ask for the next tour and hop in. It was about 50 US $. You'll get wet a little but you'll dry out just as fast if the weather is nice

Friends were just at the falls last week and they had the most rain there since 1999 so the falls are fantastic. The bad news some of the walkways were washed away.
