Heya,
My husband and I are driving to St John's with a UHaul(from Halifax) and so must put ourselves on the waitlist for the ferry. We only have the truck for four days and I am gettin a little worried about how long we may be waiting. We wanted to take the Port aux Basques ferry and enjoy the chance to see the province on the way. Any suggestions about negotiating wait times? How far ahead do we need to line up? We'll be driving around Aug 31/ Sept 1. Thanks for any suggestions as we've never done this and we're on a budget! |

I'm not an expert but my experience a few years ago taught me to book ahead. There is more of a chance to get the Port aux Basques Ferry then the St Johns. I was stuck in St. Johns for a week because I didn't book ahead. August seems to be a time when huge RV's are going back over to NS. They take up a lot of space on the ship. I don't think you wait will be too long.
