Going to Guangzhou in August Posted: Sun May 20, 2007 03:03 AM UTC
Hi I am taking Air Asia to Macau in August - 5 day trip.
I have been to Macau and HK before (also Shenzhen). This time around, I wanted to go to Guangzhou from Macau. Basically I want to spend 1 day in Macau, 1 day in HK, 2 day in Guangzhou, something like that.
Can anyone let me know which route is best to go about and how?
For Guangzhou, anyone knows any good local budget tour agent?
Thanks!

You can get the high speed ferry (45 min) to Hong Kong from Macau. It runs at least once per hour. From Hong Kong to Guangzhou, take the KCR train from Kowloon through Shenzhen. It is quick and safer than bus. I never traveled from Guangzhou to Macau, but I would expect there is a train to Zhuhai, the Chinese city next to Macau. You could also just retrace your route.
These are all tickets you can book yourself by just visiting the train or ferry station. No travel agent is required.

From Macau, you can take the ferry to HK, then the direct Intercity train from Hung Hom station in Kowloon directly to Guangzhou (slightly less than 2 hours). Then from Guangzhou, take the bus (2 hours) to Zhuhai (border to Macau) and fly out again from Macau.
Alternatively, you can go from Macau to Guangzhou (bus - 2 hours). Take it from Macau itself or in Zhuhai (border). From Guangzhou, take the train from Guangzhou East Railway station to HK. And from HK, take the highspeed ferry back to Macau.
All very easy and simple when your actually there.
