We are thinking of flying with Ryanair from Liverpool to Santander. Have been told San Sebastian is lovely and need to know how far it is from Santander Airport and how we would get there. Would be better staying in Santander?

San Sebastián is a nice city .
You can take the bus in the airport to the bus station in Santander ( 20 minutes) and here you can take the bus to San Sebastian ( 200 Kms from Santander ). For schedules see the bus company Alsa web www.alsa.com Depends on the time you are spending in you travel and what type of things you like to your plan the visits : -If you like beaches you have good beaches in Santander and in the surrounding villages -Santander is a nice city -Santillana del Mar is a Medieval village very nice -If you like mountains and trekking you may go to the Potes ( Liebana ) Area - If you like caves is a very nice cave called the Soplado -In Bilbao (100Kms ) you may visit Guggenheim Museum - ... You have a lot of alternatives and for sure anything that you decide will be good Buen Viaje!!!!

Thank you for the information it was very helpful. We have decided to stay in Santander as San Sebastian is a little too far.

Taking advantage of Ryanair's free seat offer, huh?
If you hire a car, San Sebastian is only 2hrs away from Santander airport (the section of the highway between Santander and Bilbao is toll-free, but from Bilbao to San Sebastian is not). Still, Santander is quite a pleasant place to spend a weekend, and the beach in Santander is definitely as good as the one in San Sebastian (and the weather as unpredictable too!). Whatever you decide, enjoy.
