Torremolinos Shopping!
Posted: Thu May 17, 2007 03:01 PM UTC
Hi everyone

I'm heading off to Torremolinos next Tuesday and I was wondering what the shopping is like there? I'm a massive fan of designer handbags such as Louis Vuitton, Dior and Fendi.

Does anyone know if you can get such designer replicas in Torremolinos and if so where and what price should I expect to pay?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you. I have heard Marbella would be good for shopping but to be honest I'm not planning on going so far. We got a 4 night all inc break in Torremolinos for £160 and we don't care what the place is like we just want sun and relaxation.

Does anyone know of any shops in Torremolinos where I can get my beloved bags?

Thanks in advance.

Torremolinos is worderful and maybe you can find good shopping along Calle San Miguel and all the way down to the beach. Marbella is a good place to find luxury replicas. I recommend you two places: the seaside walk, next two Marbella's Marina (no Pto Banus), where african guys will show you many bags, and the street market of Puerto Banus only on saturday mornings close to the Bullring.

Not a clue about prices :(

I don't know where you are from, but you might want to check on Spanish regulations about buying/taking these bags out of the country. In Italy, and I think also possibly in France, they are cracking down on buyers of designer replicas (if you are caught), and there are fines of around $1,000. You might want to ask Ape Huva from Malaga if he knows about this, or check Spanish customs regulations online. These regulations might not exist in Spain, but it's worth checking so you know whether you might be getting into some hot water.

Thanks to everyone for their very helpful replies. I'm sure I will find one of two lovely bags in Torremolinos or the surrounding areas.

Marianne - thank you for the advice, I did not know about such laws and fines as I usually holiday in Greece and have no problems there. The bags are widely advertised there and I always carry my new purchase on my shoulder going through customs on the way home. However I understand Spain may have different rules and I will look out for this and be careful.

I only ever buy 1-2 handbags for my own personal use so I think you should be allowed to do this as long as you are not buying in bulk with a view to selling them on at home.

My sister is going to Marbella a few days after me so I will ask her to look there for me.

Many thanks for your help and I hope I find something that takes my fancy in Torremolinos!

I'm really looking forward to it now!

I don't think I will be making it to Malaga, as I said I'm not really looking to go outside of Torremolinos considering it is just a short relaxing break. However my sister is going on holiday to Marbella next Friday so if I have no luck in getting my bag in Torremolinos she could maybe get me one in Marbella.

No fines here for items for your personal use, of course. No need to go to Malaga, because the Department Store EL CORTE INGLÉS is the most expensive mall in Málaga, so you will find authentic Gucci bags, but this doesn't sound to be what you want. Ask your sister, cuz in Marbella I've seen that replicas everywhere.

Have a good time here!

Thank you very much Ape Huva. Indeed I wish I could afford to buy some genuine bags in that expensive mall in Malaga but unfortunately I will have to stick to the replicas in the meantime! ha ha!

If I don't see anything in Torremolinos I will ask my sister.

Thanks again and can't wait to come to Torremolinos now!

I'm sorry as this would not help you, but what I really don't understand is why some people like wearing a bad quality cheap replica when you can have good quality local "unknown" stuff. For me, a "brand" is something worth it ONLY if it means quality. BTW, I hate big labels... I'm not paid to be a walking advertising post!!

(not to say the social and economic implications of buying replica stuff)

Said that, all around Spain you'll find African or Asian guys selling replicas in any concurred place. As well, you may find local young designers who produce nice and unique pieces. The choice is yours.

Hi everyone

Just back from a fantastic break in Torremolinos and I didn't even need to leave the resort to get my beloved Fendi Spy bag! Got it in a lovely shop on Calle San Miguel, real leather, fantastic quality and just like the real thing! Got it for 28 euros! I'm sooo pleased!

Thanks again for all your help.
