| Gold Coast | Whale watching Posted: Tue May 15, 2007 01:22 PM UTC
Hi, travelling to Brisbane (Staying Surfers paradise) back end of August. I am led to believe this is a good time of year to see humpback whales. Any tips and good viewing places or trips? Thanks

Gold Coast is not the best place to start from to see whales, but there is at least one operator based at Marina Mirage. The price is hervey bay prices though. make sure that your trip is after lunch, when most of the calf activity takes place.

Also Byron Bay is a good place to see them. A night or two in Byron is worth looking into. Cheers, Ann :o)
