Himalayas trekking in the himalayas
Posted: Tue May 15, 2007 09:52 AM UTC
Where do you recommend in the Himalayas for an unspoilt(relatively) region for a trekking holiday?
Has anyone been to the Karakoram in the past 6 years - post 9/11 - and is it safe politically?

Has anyone been to Annapurna recently - how busy does it get. I have heard that Everest Base Camp is a tip - I don't want to go to Annapurna and find similar.

thanks

Tourism is up by 20% over last year, still plenty of room. Both Mustang and Manang are fine, Around Annapurna, too; there is nothing of the trash as from the everest climbers. On the oher hand, you do normally not go to the Everest Base Camp because the views are limited, rather you try to scale Kala Pattar nearby. And in Khumbu you do not have to go to that side anyhow. Langtang is always good. Personally' I'd go to Manang and hang out there and take side trips if I had some time to spare.

Dear Andrew,
It is my great pleasure to provide relevant information regarding the trekking in the Himalayas. As far as I have read your comment I would like to suggest you to trek in Langtang region. The area located on the lap of Langtang Lirung and other beautiful mountains. The area is popular for the cultural diversity. The trek can be done from 8 to 16 days. If you have free time you can e-mail at unique@ccsl.com.np for more information about this trekking.

Regards,
Krishna

I have the only Humla page on VT, and I am not an agent; feel free to check my info on my Simikot pages. According to VT, Humla does not exist...
He, he, he; in actual fact it does, but after waiting forever in Nepalganj for the flight there you start to wonder, too!
Note that if you want to go unsupported you cannot go much beyond Simikot.
