we are having a day stop at livorno, italy on a cruise we are doing in july.
we would like to get a train from livorno to florence and maybe lucca, can anyone tell me if the trains go direct and how far florence and lucca are from livorno.

Livorno to Florence, is 1 hr 22 min, running every hour, euro 6.10 for the ticket. This is direct.

Lucca is between 44 min, and 1 hour & 4 minutes depending on the train. Cost euro 3.30 2nd class, 4.95 1st class. Requires a change in Pisa.

Florence and Lucca in a day is too much. If you decide on florence, definately spend all the time there, it won't be enough any. For another option, you may want to consider Pisa and Lucca in a day, you have to change in Pisa anyway (a long day, but more doable than florence and Lucca)
