What is the weather like in the Whitsundays in June/July? Is the water warm enough for swimming?

The days are usually pretty warm and the nights cool. I love July/August in the Whitsundays because there are usually nice calm waters and winds. For the full temperatures see www.seastarcruising.com.au and that will give you average temps. I was up there in August last year and the water was warm enough to swim but a bit too cool to snorkel for long periods of time. The other advantage of winter is that it is whale season and you will get to see whales and their calfs. Lots of dolphins too.

Hi, The weather will be beautiful, perfect, swimming is good, we visited Hamilton Island last August, had a great time. What island are you staying on. You are welcome to view my Hamilton Island pages, see the photo of people in the pool drinking at the bar, that is "relaxation".
Good Luck,
Mike

Tom, that's the best time to go mate! June through to August the water is lovely and the days are warm and the monsoon rain has gone. You can't go wrong mate! Make sure you visit the famous Whitehaven beach (we went there on a day trip on the Raggamuffin - an ex Sydney to Hobart racing yaucht), do the yellow submarine and also the 3 island day trip including a diving course. We stayed for a week on Hamilton Island and a week on the mainland at Arlie Beach and had the best time!!
Cheers, Ann :o)
