Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Ust'-Kut Hydrofoil up the Lena to Yakutsk
Posted: Sun May 13, 2007 04:52 PM UTC
Does anyone have any weblinks or info on the regularity of the Hydrofoil to Yakutsk from Ust-Kut? I believe the journey takes about 3 days, but I'm unclear (or actually just in the dark) on how many times a week it goes and how far in advance it needs to be booked. Also, do I need more than one city listed on my visa within the Republic of Sakha in order to gain entry? Yakutsk is already listed.
Thank you very, very much.

It says in my BAM book that entry in the Republic of Sakha is somewhat restricted but sometimes can be worked around. It is from 1995 though.

No any settlements mentioned in your post. Just have a look here (only in Russian): http://www.fstec.ru/_docs/doc_1_4_009.htm
It's old, but just few points were added into the list since those time (near Spb). I'll check the official site tomorrow)))

That's an absolutely excellent link, Elena, thank you so much! I can't speak much Russian but I translate the webpage on babelfish.

Interesting stuff everyone thanks. That journey up the Lena I imagine would be amazing. 3 days either way though :o/.

10 hours to Hydrofoil the length of Lake Baikal I have read... hmmm, interesting.

Lee, how do I do that translation thingy of Elena's link? Would love to have a play around with that myself.

Just to add that in accordance with some Russian forum discussions there are some more options like small boats which depart to different destinations in Lena river more ar less regular (some - every 2 hours - other twice a year), but you do not found any official information about them. The big ships and hydrofoils usually serve foreign tourists, other options are some kind of public transport for locals.

June, copy any weblink in Russian and then go to altavista.com. Click on the babelfish translator link and then it will give you an option to paste an entire webpage to translate. (It's the second option). You can translate blocks of text too.
