| Salamanca | Is there a place to buy an electrical adaptor in Salamanca? Posted: Thu May 10, 2007 03:11 PM UTC
Anyone know a place in Salamanca where I can buy an adaptor to convert a US hair dryer to European voltage? I came thinking I could buy one here. Pretty stupid, I know.

If you are staying in a hotel, check with the desk. They often have adapters to loan out. Otherwise ask for an electronics store or luggage store.
Failing all else, find a beauty shop and have your hair cut. LOL

Even if you find it (I don't think so, these are not easy to find even in big cities) you will need a transformer (US voltage is lower than in the EU) and an adaptor-plug. All this will cost you about the same or more than buying a new small hairdryer that you can use on future travels.

Of course Belsaita is right. I only use my laptop and battery charger and both are dual voltage. I don't know if hair dryers are dual voltage. If not, you must have the voltage converter.
It would be much easier and probably cheaper to just get a cheap European hair dryer. You can keep it for your next trip or you can leave it at your hotel for someone else.

Ops I did not thought that a hairdryer could be dual voltage (mine is not). In this case, you only need the adaptor-plug. You can buy one online, i.e. here:
http://www.amidata.es/cgi-bin/bv/rswww/searchBrows (sorry for the long link, it was just the first entry on a quick google search!!) but again, this cost about 9 euros, and you can get a cheap hairdryer for about the same price.
