| Skopje | Skopje Posted: Tue May 8, 2007 08:59 PM UTC
My Cousin and I are coming to Skopje in August. We want to visit either Budva or anything that doesnt take to long to get to. We want something with a beautiful beach and relaxing. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go and how to get there??? We do not want to drive. Train would be our first choice if possiable. We dont mind taking the bus as long as it is comfortable.
All advice would be appreciated? Thanks! |

The city of Ohrid on the Ohrid Lake is super and you can reach it from Skopje by bus. But Budva is hardly in Macedonia. You can reach Skoje either from Greece via Thessaloniki or from North via Belgrade-Zagreb/Belgrade/Budapest by train. Belgrade-Skopje scenery is not exceptional, so it's OK if you take the night train. Skopje-Budva can be done using the railway line to Bar, that is one of the most scenic in the world, with viaduct at Mala Rijeka being the highest in the world.

Actually if you still want to visit Budva you can't miss the Bar railway. I found this video on youtube about it - enjoy.

Greece is way easier to go if you want sand, beach and getting a good tan.
But also, waaaaaaaaay much more expensive. And BTW, Montenegrians are famous for their hospitality ,unlike Greeks. Since you will be in Macedonia, please don't miss Ohrid. If you go, you want regret it, believe me!

Maybe you visit some parts of Greece which I haven't visitied yet.
In northern Greece (where I go for holiday) they want only your money. No smile, no warm word no anything. Montenegrians are very friendly ,so .... That is my impresion, maybe I am wrong.
