| Manchester | 1st Time Visitor to England- Piccadilly Station Posted: Tue May 8, 2007 03:51 PM UTC
Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for the best way to get from Piccadilly Station to the Monton House Hotel (116 -118 Monton Road Eccles). My train is scheduled to arrive at 18:50 this Saturday. I was wondering if taking a taxi would be better seeing that we will be tired from a long flight and train ride. Would it be that much more expensive than taking the tram/bus? Thanks for your help everyone! This site is great. Nero1 |

A taxi will always be more expensive than taking a tram/bus but it does offer convenience. It's about 6 miles from the station to your hotel, so I'd go with the taxi...probably cost around 10/15GBP (am guessing, as taxi rates are set by the local councils and vary across the country).

I would agree that a taxi would be the easiest option. Just dump your bags in the back, get in and sit back. I would guess at just over £10. If you really wanted to do it cheap, you could turn right out of Piccadilly station, walk about 5 minutes to Piccadilly Gardens and get a tram for about £1.90 that would take you to the centre of Eccles taking about 15 minutes, you get a good view of the city too. You could then get a taxi or bus for the last mile or so. But the taxi is by far the easiest option.

Thanks everyone.
Yes, I just checked the weather for the weekend and it looks like rain (what a surprise). So I think I'll take your advice and just pay for a taxi instead. Thanks again!
