Hi all
I hope to go to Kherson at the end of this month,like others, I have met a nice lady on the internet (I hope) I suppose I will fly to Odessa? and then (as mentioned here previously) take a bus or Taxi to Kherson, does any one know the current prices? is it in US dollars?
Also, there seems to be only one Hotel (Fregat)whats it like? or should I book an apartment for 5 nights?
Any suggestions on entertaining a lady in Kherson, or should I leave it to her?
Also, is wearing a tie really important to their dress code? I normally wear a suit with an open shirt, is this impolite? Or jeans and casual shirt? (Im a young 50)lol.

Can't say wether they are good or bad but just an option. Entertainment in Kherson - I do not think this is the place for it, boring city as to me. So maybe she will chose somthing besides nightclubs and restaurants. Dress code - the most important thing is you comfort so feel free to be casually dressed.

Uhmmmm.... you actually can fly into Budapest or Bratislava on SkyEurope than go by train, it's dirt-cheap in Slovakia. There is a good connection via Kiev. It has advantages that while the travel takes a while, you will meed REAL Ukrainian (Slovakian, etc.) ladies while going to Kherson and may decide do otherwise.

The internet is the worst place to meet - just trying to cool you down. Just to warn: the guys over there are not any worse than elsewhere and FYI: world's largest per-capita condom consumers are Bulgaria, Hungary and Russia (I think, Ukraina is also very-very close). Educated-nice-foreign-man-craving-honest Ukrainian girls are a urban legend, these things never happen the same time. :-)

A taxi from Odesa to Kherson would cost you within $70, could possibly agree for $50 if you're lucky. One suggestion is to ask your lady to arrange the taxi from Kherson to come pick you up. You're paying for the roundtrip anyway, but if the taxi is prearranged from Kherson, it will be the cheapest option.

Don't worry about the tie.

Consider going to the Crimea or Odesa with you lady for a few days instead of staying in Kherson all the time.

Haha! Nice to know the girls like sex and insist on condoms! I guess the Ukrainian girls are the same.

There is actually a brand new and really nice and comfortable new hotel at the main railway station. As you stand in fron of the station with your back to it, look to your right and the hotel is above a cafe/cake shop. It is a bit motel-like but it is very new and comfortable.

I don't remember the name or how much we paid - poss around $40 US for a double room for one night. It is five minutes walk into the centre of Kherson from there. i have seen Fregat - this is much nicer.

Thanks Fizzytom, I might take an aoartment though as I have been told that the lady I am going to meet may be mistaken for a prostitute if she is seen coming in and out of a hotel.

I was wondering whether - if you are in that part of town - you might get the name of this hotel at the station for me as I have not been able to find it anywhere...

By the way - Kherson seems to be the find-a bride centre of Ukraine - there are countless wedding dress shops, marriage bureaus, etc. Be aware that as a foreigner you wil be targeted mercilessly so keep your wits about you.

The frgrat is a terible hotel, I stayed there for 2 nights before I moved to a apartment and for less money from around $40 a night

Hotel name near railway station "Angelina", I do not recommend to stop in Angelina. Nice hotel: Ninel http://www.ninel.kherson.ua/en/ near the center.
