Hi all,

We are planning to go to Jiuzhaigou at 16.10.07, and I have many wonders :

+ Is it difficult to buy entrance ticket at that time-I afraid it's too crowded, may we buy the ticket in advance and ask the hostel to do this service?

+ May we buy ticket for 2 days, we would like to stay there in 2 days?

+ Can we stay in the park at night?

+ We would like to take a bus or renting minivan/taxi from Jiuzhaigou to Langmusi then go to Xining, there are any travel agency can arrange that.

+ Finally, how crowded in the park at that time, and how to avoid that crowd.

The right time going there!

a. Not difficult for buying your entrance ticket at all. If you arrive Jiuzhaigou in the evening, you may get your ticket before the park closes.

b. The second day's admission is free, and you have to mention to the staff who sells the ticket, they will take a photo of you and print it on the ticket.

c. It's not allowed to stay in the park although few visitors still do so, I do not suggest you stay in the park.

d. I don't think any agency arranges that tour to Qinghai, or the price will be very very expensive. Try to fly to Xining then start your Langmusi trip.

e. It' will be very crowded in the park except 10.1 long holidays, see my Jiuzhaigou page and find more info for routes.

We plan to go directly from JZG to Langmusi-Xiahe-Xining or Lanzhou then take the train to Lhasa, have you ever go that way, could you please give us some advices.

Christine, I don't think you've been there in the middle of October.

In fact, Oct15-Oct25 will be the most crowded season except 10.1 long holidays.

And I do suggest you book your accommodation at Jiuzhaigou in advance, although you may find one upon your arrival.

There are several tibetan hostels in the park and they are always welcome the visitors, however, it's not allowed officially to stay overnight in the park.

Once you arrive in Xining, it's better to book your train ticket heading for Lhasa immediately before you complete your trip to Langmusi.

We did contact with some agency about train+permit from Lhasa to Xining already, we will book accommodation in advance as your suggestion. I guess that time will be crowded bcoz it's the best time to see JZG'multy colour.

I know that the train from Xining to Lhasa depart at even date ( 2nd, 4th, 6th...30th ) of the month, isn't it?

1) It's not difficult to buy entrance tickets, but be prepared for people everywhere!
2) Yes. Remember to get your mugshot taken when you buy the ticket on the 1st day.
3) Officially, no. Unofficially, I'm not sure.
4) Just look around on the streets to see if any driver would take you. Or else try your luck at the long-distance bus station.

I was there in late May 2006. It was very crowded and it was not the May holiday and not the time when people to see the colors of the trees.

I stayed outside the park but have pictures of accommodations within the park. It is not officially allowed but it looks like some people do. There is no hot water and the accommodations are very basic as you can see by my pictures.
