Kuala Lumpur Men's Suits in KL
Posted: Mon August 18, 2003 10:41 AM UTC
Hi everyone!!
I will be in KL in early September for 4 days, I would like to have 1 or 2 suits tailored while I'm there, I will staying in the Renaissance Hotel, can anyone reccomend a good but reasonably priced tailor close by? Bukit Bintang is ok as well, would 4 days be enough time for them to make them? Also on a seperate question, I am planning to do the buffet dinner in KL Tower, is it any good?
Thanks
Chris

Suits I not sure.

Buffet at KL Tower? Food is okay but expensive (by local standard), but you get a spectacular 360 view of the city.

Have a pleasant trip

Forget about the buffet - it is horrendous...full of msg!!!! there are lots of better buffet around.
If you like Japanese buffet, Shangrila Hotel Zipangu (sat and sunday lunch) is the best and so is Kampachi (sunday lunch only) at Equatorial hotel....both requires reservations and only available weeknds. Otherwise try Lemon Garden cafe at Shangrila - they have the best buffet - has bothlocals and international - their italian corner is very good..... good for lunch but dinner cost more...go hungry

Hi Chris, sounded like you are holding a function in KL, thanks for choosing KL ! About the suits, it normally take at least a week to get it done but there are ready suits where they can be customised ! Do check with your hotel, they may just have an inhouse tailor. If they don't have one, try the one at Concorde Hotel opposite Renaissance or at Spark Mens' shop inside Isetan at KLCC. About the buffet dinner, frankly, the place is a little over priced and food is so so (know what I mean?) but on the other hand, if you like typical Malaysian food and environment, do try the Restaurant Seri Melayu which is the same management of theone at KL Tower. They have excellent local food and cultural show.....advance booking is required. Else, take Audrey's advise ! Have fun in KL, Selamat Datang.

My family refuses to go to the Lemon Garden, despite me wanting to go so much! My friend said that you have to keep an eye on the food that they cook for you- or else it will end up 'stolen' by someone else! For me, I'd rather leave the cooking in the kitchen, and have food at the counter, but then again I was told the Lemon Garden is heavenly, I really gotta go...
We normally go to the Palace of the Golden Horses, or Cyberview Lodge. But the spread at Palace of the Golden Horses has reduced somewhat; but we just love the Merdeka month spread, so we're going again despite promising the last time that we're going somewhere else (I was hoping Lemon Garden!)
Anyway it won't be logical for you to travel outskirts of KL to get to Corousel @ Palace of the Golden Horses, so, I believe Lemon Garden is the choice. KL Tower, (Sri Angkasa) nice commmanding views, make early reservations if you wanna go. Suits, get over to Bukit Bintang, my realtive did that last time. Enjoy KL!~

I checked with Robert Chooi, master tailor at Spark's manshop at isetan KLCC-you can get a suit done in 4 days. You can contact him at his mobile 012-2871182. You can't go wrong with Spark's manshop as they are the leading men's tailoring shop in Malaysia and Robert is a very experienced tailor with more than 20 years experience. As for buffet, if you like traditional malay food, a better bet would be Seri Melayu at Jalan Conlay(5-10 mins by taxi from Renaissance) where there's nightly cultural show. However, Lemon Garden at Shang is not too bad, altho a little pricey at RM80 per pax. Currently they are running a promotion with Amex and cardholders get 20% off until Dec 31! Try the supper buffet from 11pm-4am at Concorde Hotel just opposite Renaissance. Feast your stomach(you can have unlimited teh tarik!) and your eyes as this hotel offers excellent people watching views.

Wow, Peter's advise is fantastic and same taste with me ? ok, suits could cost you from RM650 onwards, jacket only. Depending very much on the material you choose.
