Tobol'sk Travel Forum

We will spend some time in Tobol'sk in July 2007 and are interested to
receive suggestions for things to do there and nearby environs. Tyumen'? Historical sites? Food? How about boats for travel up the river? Thanks for your ideas and experience. D&M

Tyumen' is nice in my opinion although some people tell it is boring city. Yes, there is not much to see in comparision with Moscow and St Petersburg but in my opinion is worth visiting. I visited the city several times in winter this year and am about to visit Tyumen' in summer. By the way, I thought of Tobol'sk because I've never been there before. Maybe i will fly there in july :-)))

:-)) No, Lev, I meant fly to Tyumen' but then i am about to go by train to Tobol'sk for one day :-) Thx for info about Rasputin's place birth, I didn't know, i will visit it if i have time. Byt the way, from Tyumen' it's possible to go to Perm' or Ekat, other big cities of region and the train goes during night that is very comfortable I suppose for day-trips.

Thanks guys, but how about something new not already in other VT forum questions. Any interesting towns, villages, river trips in this area? Maybe a fishing story ... We hope there is more to see :)

ha-ha-ha. yeah, Lev, you're right about 3-walls houses :-) maybe some day it will be a museum of you or me and it will be advertised as tourist trap here :-)))
