hello!

to a person with experience of spending holiday in Catania - in june period is it more cost effective to book a holiday pack (min.£240/person) or try and get a cheap flight and get a lodging upon arrival (not necessarily a hotel), im talking 1 week break. please please reply as i dont know what to do and need to make up my mind!

it can be if you are lucky and happen to find a place that has just had a cancellation at the last min. or has a room because of a no show.
try some of the links that are on some of the budget airlines. even the ones that do not fly there. some times they have good hotel and b and b bargains.
then see what the lowest airfare is you can get.
a very few times this will be less than the package.
on the package deal the tour company is paying less than 140 dolars for a flight that will cost you more than 200 if you bought it from an airline. also the same is true for the hotel room. so they can charge like 300 dolars for the deal and still make a few dollars

try to find out what the rate is for the hotel room is if you book it. if you will be paying close to the same price for the room as what the package charges. look for another travel sevices provider.

hi. in my opinion, it depends on where is this place where you are going to stay.the price is really good as hotel in catania are quite expensive, without reason. but, if you get the chance to book the flight only, you could try to have a room at agora hostel, nice place in the centre of the city, really cool and not so expensive. their web site www.agorahostel.com
