| Malcesine | How to get to Malcesine Posted: Wed May 2, 2007 10:57 AM UTC
Hi, me and my wife are travelling to Malcesine (lake Garda) in early June and will be arriving by train (from Venice) at Verona Porta Nuova train station. We were wondering whether to get a hire car for the week, or just get a taxi / bus to the resort (although I've read that the bus takes a long time). We don't want to get a hire car if it is then best to travel around the lake and see the area by boat. I have heard that travelling by road around the lake can be very busy and I don't want to get a car for a week and then end up leaving it unused all week.
Dose anyone know how much a taxi is likely to be? And should I get a hire car or not? |

Hi, the bus station is in the same square of the railway station.
The bus takes about 1,5 hour (60 km) and it is the cheapest way, 4,80 euro per person. the bus is starting from the railway station - line no. 62 or 64 bus will start at 10.30, 11.30, 12.15 (on sunday), 12,30, 13,40 Ciao Giorgio

Ooops I forgot to inform you that you don't need to rent a car from Verona, since you can go everywhere with the boats or with local transports.
Don't miss to go to the top of the mountain, abou 2.000 meters over the lake. Go in the morning, because the air is more clean (in the afternoon sometimes some storms will arrive from the mountains in the other side of the lake). Don't miss to visit Arco, Riva del Garda, Limone and Verona (my town) Giorgio
