Belgrade A question about trains
Posted: Tue May 1, 2007 03:45 PM UTC
hello :D
i was hoping someone could help me with understanding the train system, the website doesnt explain it much..
on the network map, what do the thinner lines represent? train lines or bus connections?
http://www.yurail.co.yu/karta1.html
if you open up the map, youll see at around the number "72" area its a thinner line, and areas on the thinner line are not in the list when looking for timetables.

What id really like to know is, how to get from Despotovac (around "72") to Beograd, or at least from Despotovac to Markovac

thank you very much :)

You can get from Despotovac to Beograd by train - but only twice monthly. Normally it's a freight-only line, but twice monthly there is a very special tain called "Romantika". The web site is in Serbian only, I recently posted the deal. Otherwise Pupulainen is right - freight only line.

Sorry, once monthly. There is one train June 23, one July 8, one August 5.
It's a steam-pulled historic train, $15 round-trip in forst class, $7.5 one-way. Third class is $10/$5

Same here (but I am actually halfways from Hungary, halfways from Russia). I was there long ago and that time we got the ticket till either Lapovo or till Svetozarevo, than went by bus. Now looking at the map I could not find Svetozarevo. Than Pupulainen suggested I should not go till Lapovo because it's in the middle of nowhere, rather to Jagodina. The next I did wonder, why Pupulainen is sending me to a border town between Poland and Ukraina - than I realized, Svetozarevo is always used to be Jagodina, just not during the time we were there.

Busses are many - look in a previous forum somewhare, we found quite a bit. But with the train there are two cases:

a) you reach Jagodina
b) someone enters your compartemt and sez: "Pani, paszporta prosim" (that means, it's a WRONG Jagodina) LOL
