Ericeira Traveling to Portugal
Posted: Mon April 30, 2007 07:51 PM UTC
Traveling to Portugal in the first week of July with my family and was look at Ericeira as a nice place for base camp. I have a 10 and 11 year old and I thought the beach would be fun and I love the idea of the old fishing village. It sounds very much like San Sebastin in Spain. My concern is about the wind. Does it get windy there in July? How is the weather? If not Ericeira, where else would you recommend?

I have recently discovered a wonderful place in Ericeira by the name of Quinta dos Raposeiros. It is right outside Eirceira perched on ahill overlooking the ocean. There is a trail that you can take all the way down to Sao Lourenco beach. The accomodations are absolutely perfect for families and you can also enjoy the pool or half-pipe for the children.
They can be found under wonderfulland.com or their own website quintadosraposeiros.com
Let us know what you think and enjoy your family holiday.
Portugal is a very special place.

Would you recommend Ericiera or Cascais? Is wind a problem? Thank you so much for your response.

Wind conditions in general or do you refer to ocean conditions.
July and August are the warmest months of the year and the weather will certainly be summery, great outdoor/beach weather.
As for the are and their beaches, these are abit wilder and certainly ideal for surf and bodysurfing; although you can still find calmer beaches if that is what you are looking for.

Cascais and Estoril offers compeltely different selections of beach, calmer certainly.
If Cascais is what you are looking for then I would try Casal Antigo for affordable loding although not in center of town. Lodging in Cascais in general will certainly be more costly.

Feel free to ask any others questions.
Cheers!
