Hi,

I am planning a 6 day tour to ladakh. Need help in planning. We are 2 adults and 2 children below 5. From the web I have gathered that nubra valley, Pangong lake, Tso moriri and Tso kar are good places around. I request the members to help me form an itenary with approx chost. I will be reaching Leh on 24Aug and leaving by 30th Aug Deccan flight. (early morning). Are there more interesting places that I can cover.

If you fly into Leh then you will want to rest the first day to get used to the altitude. Then on the second day you probably want to see Leh and the nearby Thikse and Hemis monasteries. That limits you to 3 or 4 days to travel around. We went trekking so I cannot comment on your proposed itinerary.

After flying in rest for atleast 2 days to avoid HAPO. Leh is full of things to see and I feel that trying to rush in more things than what you already have planned would be impossible. Nubra valley and Pangong Tso take 2 days each !! If you rush things you or your children will land up in Hospital from HAPO. So, change your date of departure.

First thing first, 6 days trip is 5 day of sightseeing. 1 day will be complete rest. Ok may be a stroll to the market in the evening...walk very slowly, drink lots of water, and rest if you feel tired.

Pangong lake is 1 day trip, 12-13 hours drive. (Rs 5000 for taxi)

Tso moriri is 2 day trip. (Rs 5500)

Nubra valley is 2 day trip (Rs 5500)

1 day sightseeing of Sindhu Ghat, Shey, Thiksey, Hemis and Stok Museum is recommended. (Rs 1600)

1 day Magnetic Hill, Indus-Zanskar river confluence, Lekir (Rs 1800)

A hotel in Leh will be Rs 500 upto 1700 per night for a double room.

AClass hotel will charge Rs 2700 for a day for double bed room with meals for 2.

And I hope Deccan will start its flight operation???
