Re: From Foz to Puerto Iguazu Posted: Mon May 7, 2007 02:21 AM UTC
Greetings from Brasil, we visited Foz do Iguazu at Easter and had a great time. Both sides have different things to offer. We stayed on the Brasillian side and went to the Argentinian side for the day. On the Argentinian side they do a great 4 x 4 truck through the forrest which leads to the water where you start the boat trip up the river to the falls, this costs approx. R$80 pp and well worth it. You get very wet as they take you right under one of the waterfalls. There are many walk tracks through the forrest around the falls including right up to the 'devils throat' (awesome) and it takes a full day to see it all. The Brasillian side has a short walk with terrific views. This only takes a few hours. There are many other activities you can do on the Brasillian side e.g. mountain bikes, kayaks, rock climbing, tree top climbing, plus some additional walks, however these all cost extra so it depends what you want to do. There is also a helicopter on the Brasillian side, we didn't do it but friends of ours have and we have seen the photos and it gives the place a whole other perspective, absolutely incredible. Cost was approx. US$70 pp. Another interesting thing to do is the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Station which is about a 10 minute taxi ride. It is the largest in the world and very cool. Near the Brasillian side of the falls is a good bird park if you are into that sort of thing. Cheers.
