Bergamo getting from Bergamo to Torino
Posted: Sun April 29, 2007 10:35 PM UTC
I'm arriving around midnight September 13th at Bergamo airport and need to get 12 of us to Torino - any suggestions - I'm quite happy to drive if there are minibuses of that size for hire.

Hi,
in the airport's website you'll find some information about car rentals:
http://www.sacbo.it/Editorial/newsCategoryViewProcess.jsp?editorialID=2177
There's a highway that links Bergamo-Milan-Turin (whose italian code is A4) but unfortunately it's one of the worst because of the traffic. Try to avoid travelling toward Milan (coming from any directions) in the working days mornings (5am to 1pm) and leaving milan in the working days evenings (4pm to 7pm. In fact many peple go to work in Milan and the highway is often stuck (not always, though). During the weekends it's the contrary because all the ppl in Milan wants to leave such an awful city ;) and so on saturday in the morning you'll find thousands of ppl going out and on sunday evening (and night) you'll find thousands of people coming back to milan.
If you have any other questions, please let me know!

regards,
Sergio

In terms of public(ish) transport I believe that there are busses at Bergamo that are timed to the arriving flights. You should be able to catch a bus to Milano Centrale train station. From there you might have to crash overnight in Milan unless there's a train leaving Milano Centrale for Torino (stations Porta Nuova and Porta Susa are both in downtown Torino) around 2:30 am (which is when you would arrive at the Milano Centrale). You would find that out by checking www.trenitalia.com
