Jacksonville Weather and humidity
Posted: Sat April 28, 2007 04:41 AM UTC
Hi there... my family and I have recently moved from Tennessee to Alaska.
Being from Tennessee- we are quite familiar with humidity. We have travelled to Destin and Pensacola before. We are trying to decide the best time to come and visit Jacksonville to where we do not have to worry about the humidity. We may even be relocating to Jacksonville permanently. We do not want to move somewhere that is as humid as nashville was. And we are thinking with Jacksonville being so close to the beach- well, we hope that the humidity is better. Alaska is nice- but very far from family and everything else. lol
Any insight would be welcome.

Thanks...

I truly think you will find Jacksonvile's overall qualities far outweigh Mother natures' desire to compensate for our four seasons and closness to the Atlanic ocean.

Speaking of Seasons... Winter in Jacksonville may consist of about 10 days, when the lowest temperture drops below 40 degrees. At it's worse; is when you have to cover the 3P's (PETS,PLANTS and PIPES)to protect them from freezing for the short period of time the temperture drops below 32 degrees just before sunrise. Our average Winter days are above 70 degrees. This is Spring and we are enjoying chamber of commerce weather. Summer of course will greet you with the most humidity. The cool breezes from the Atlantic ocean helps to keep Jacksonville and it's citizens quite comfortable though.

So... that being said... Just come and visit NOW.

Florida without humidity is like Tennesee without twangy country music.
Florida is humhid. Jacksonville is surrounded by water, it is warm 95% of the year, it is nearly always humid in Florida when you are near the water. That being said, Jacksonville is a nice climate. Cool enough in the winter to give you a noticeable change in seasons, warm enough in the summer to feel tropical. I lived in Florida for 18 years and you really do get use to the humidity. It takes a couple of years to become accustomed to it. When I moved away I noticed that my skin dried out for the first time in decades. Now when I go back I notice how humid it is.

Enjoy!

David

I'll be in Anchorage for 2.5 days in June
