| Recco | things to do in Recco?? Posted: Fri April 27, 2007 04:25 PM UTC
I have a friend that will be staying in Recco for a couple of months..some friends are planning a group gift and were thinking of a helicopter ride or something that would really be fun for them..my question is, what would be a really great gift to give to this person, something that would be surprising and exciting?

Only you and your friends know the person you want to buy a surprise gift for. This is a travel forum - do you really expect a sensible answer or are you just wasting time?

First off , this was a legitimate question...I have no idea what the area is like and the major attractions REcco has to offer, my friends will be staying there for 2 months and thought I could get an intelligent answer from someone who has traveled there..so excuse me for wasting your time.

Didn't mean you to take offence, only that you know what sort of "person" the lucky person is. You haven't even told us what sex s/he is. For example a female friend of mine, by no means a timid person, was given a surprise trip in a hot-air balloon at the end of a sailing holiday she had been crewing on. It had been paid for, all the transport, picnic and champagne etc laid on but she was too terrified to even get out of the Jeep when she saw the balloon.
So the balloon ended up being well and truly deflated before it even lifted off.

the gift would be for a woman and her husband. Just thought that someone who has visited Recco may have some 'inside scoop' as to what would be a great 'touristy' thing to do. Maybe someone has done something exciting (like the air balloon ride) and would recommend as a great gift idea. That's all I wanted. Apparently you do not know, so thanks anyway.

Well, thanks for taking the trouble to reply but no, you are right, I have absolutely no idea what would be a lovely surprise for your friends.
I don't know them, and so have no idea what their age, circumstances, interests, hobbies, cultural and sporting pursuits are. Nor anything else about them, or what would constitute a great surprise just for them. My recollection of Recco is of a fairly quiet holiday place where the highlight for me was a visit to see focaccia bread being made followed by a great al fresco meal with local people! It is in Liguria, renowned for its cuisine, so the best suggestion I can come up with is a meal for two at the very best restaurant in the region. But that is what would be a lovely surprise gift for me - perhaps not for your friends..you know best. Sorry I can't even recommend a restaurant but you could try google. And I hope you find exactly what your friends will really appreciate.

ok, thank you. That is a great idea..see I didn't even know of any surrounding areas with great restaurants. Her husband is taking cooking lessons in that area, so that sounds perfect. Originally, I thought someone would comment on different things to do in the area and I would pick which would be best for them. Sorry I wasn't specific enough for you, I originally didn't know if I'd even get a response. Thank you again.

There will be a greater choice of restaurants in Genova - about 20miles west of Recco
If your friend is on a cookery course he may already have an idea of the place with the top reputation so you could just offer to foot the bill and let them make the arrangements! A last alternative thought. What about a day on a chartered yacht from one of the nearby larger ports. - probably very expensive, though and may be food is more appropriate.
