Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Travelling to gran canaria
Posted: Fri April 27, 2007 05:03 PM UTC
Hello
I was wondering if anyone knew where i can find the local shops (not the tourist shops) in gran canaria. Is it easy to travel around in a taxi? Is there a ferry that goes to morocco or any other place that is good to see?
Thank you

you will find many local shops etc "spar" and plenty of supermarkets and a ferry to morocco IMO is out of the question I think you may be mixed up on the location of the resort you are staying

Local shops include Spar and Aldi etc - but these are basically just supermarkets... you may find some smaller shops in villages. You should bear in mind that the Canary Islands are very tourist-orientated.... they are quite unlike mainland Spain or the Balearics in that they don't have lots of smaller 'local' shops really.

The ferry to Morocco is not possible - it is a very long way away from Gran Canaria ... the only ferry may be to another Canary Island (possibly).

We found the taxis in Gran Canaria really cheep. There are plenty of them and it is a good way to travel around. About the stores - I would suggest Spar. The prices can vary significantly.
