HI all
What is the weather like early to middle september?
WIll i be able to chill in swimsuit on the beach?
Are tavernas open?
How busy is it?

The weather is excellent in mid-September and you will be able to enjoy the beach and swim in the sea. Santorini doesn't begin to close down until mid-October, so it'll still be plenty busy.

In my opinion the best swimming on the whole island is below Oia, but not on a beach. At the end of the seawall that begins on the wharf at Amoudi are some very large rocks for sunbathing, and you can also swim across a very narrow channel to a small rock island where there is a cement platform for sunbathing and an upper platform for jumping and diving into the very deep water. The sea-level views of the island and caldera from that rock island are spectacular.

Riva is a small village on the water on the small island of Therassia, which is across the caldera from Santorini. One of the problems with visiting Riva is that there might not be a return ferry on the same day, or it might be at an inconvenient time.

ah sounds lovely but just found out that I will be travelling to Mykonos and Athens to see my friend now! SO all change.....any tips on Mykonos welcomed!!
