Getting to Folkestone and other ?'s
Posted: Fri April 27, 2007 03:04 AM UTC
Hello, I will be travelling to Folkestone on May 18th of this year and will be staying for about 2 weeks. I'm from the states and I have never been to this town before. My question is.. What is the best way to get from Heathrow airport to folkestone? Also, Is the new Shopping center built? I have been doing some reading and can't realley tell if it actually is finished. Actually, any information anyone can give me about the town would be great and realley appreaciated. We are mainley useing it as a base to take of for a lot of day trips. My grandmother grew up nearby and wanted to come look at all the places of her youth. Thanks :) Kirsten

Train takes about 2 and a half hours, change in London. www.nationalrail.co.uk for times, fares and deetails.

Coach takes about 4 and a half hours. www.nationalexpress.com You may have to change coaches in London; you will certainly have a 'break' in victoria coach station (which is why it takes so much longer).

Coach will be cheaper than train.

Can't help with the shopping centre question, sorry.

Enjoy your visit!

Well Ive long since gotten to Folkestone and then home again. The whole getting through the airport and the bus station was less then smooth but I got to where I needed to and thats what is important. It is a really nice little town. And I hope to get back again at some point in my life. Whats with the Tesco and the Mcdonalds being the only thing open after dark? lol.

Erm.....that's the UK?

Apart from large supermarkets, pubs and fish & chips shops etc, most places close around 5/5.30 even in town centres (though some have a later closing time one day a week). Entirely normal.
