Prefecture of Heraklion Budget accommodations in Gouves
Posted: Wed April 25, 2007 08:14 PM UTC
Hi everyone,

I am travelling to Crete in May and am hoping to visit a friend who will be staying at the Gouves Sea Hotel in Gouves, Crete for a few days. Unfortunately, they are fully booked so I am trying to find a place nearby so that I can hang out with my friend and catch up. Does anyone know this area and a good bang-for-your-buck place to stay? I am a solo traveller without a lot of $$$ and this town looks like a package holiday place (and I am on backpacker budget!)

Thanks for any help from fellow VTers!

check the site of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels:
www.grhotels.gr
There are more hotels in that area.
For your search, select Crete, Prefecture of Iraklio, Gouves.
For your reference, hotel classification in Greece is as follows:
L (lux) = 5*
class A = 4*
class B = 3*
class c = 2*
class D = 1*
class E = even lower...
but everywhere in Greece there are also rooms to let and maybe campings... And some hotels are not members of the Chamber... Don't be disapointed... Greece has accomodations for any kind of pockets...
Check also the site:
www.gnto.gr (Greek National Tourism Organisation). For rooms to let, if their quality is approved, they have a special sign of GNTO (using the Greek alphabet, GNTO is spelled EOT = Ellinikos Organismos Tourismou).
Tourist Police is also very helpful to tourists, all over Greece.
