My husband and I are in our mid fifties but in the evenings we enjoy good food, nice bars and live entertainment. We have enjoyed Phuket for many years but this year we are coming to Hua Hin. Any advice. Also how do prices compare with Patong.

You will find simlar things in Hau hin as you get in Phuket but on a smaller scale but still worth a visit.

If you can walk the long beach at the end is a standing buddha and a small temple on top of some rocks. some great views from the top.

Prices maybe a bit cheaper than Phuket can't remember of hand.

I think you will find drink prices cheaper than Patong overall. Nightlife though is very tame in Hua hin compared to patong or Pattaya. There are bars, some with live music, a few disco pubs and a few small shows. There are plenbty of very good restaurants both in town and along the beach area south. I think you will find it pleasant and not as loud as Patong. Tuk tuk fares are cheaper than Patong certainly, the drivers are also very friendly, you can also get taxis for the same fare and they are easily available.

Hi, Phuket is cheaper and has nicer beaches.

Hua Hin is cleaner, far less seedy and is mostly for the over 50's (couples mostly.) There are attraction but require more travel that Phuket but worth one week holiday. Most vistors are Scandinavian and loads of European food. Indeed hardly a Thai in sight! But if you are sociable then you can make lots of new friends

It is the location of one of the Kings Palaces (can be visited if the King is not there) and the Thai Police go to great lengths to keep Hua Hin clean of crime and "dodgy bars" (although there are many discrete hostess bars) Even Soi Dogs seem to be kept off the streets!

I would give it a go if I was you.

The vast majority of all visitors to Hua Hin are Thai, probably 80% or more. It is very popular especially at weekends. Many Hong Kong residents also spend long weekends there. It is spreading out a lot more and many of the new hotels and resorts are along the beaches away from the center of town.

I think you will find prices much cheaper than Patong. Go and see some of the shows, some nice cocktails bars, Monsoon is very good. Very good dining out in Hua Hin.

The show at the Sasi Restaurant is good, you can also have buffet dinner included. The Hua hin Show is in town in the night marekt area and also the Blue Angel Cabaret Show near the Hilton is fun.
