I am renting a cottage in Positano in May and want to know if its easy to get fresh food (especially fish) there or nearby so that we can cook it in our cottage.

CINQUE SALVATORE is a small but very well-stocked market in the upper part of Positano on Via Marconi road. I believe this is the main road coming in to Positano from Sorrento. (There is a SITA bus stop right nearby.) This wonderful market is run by the nicest people in all of Italy! They have a nice deli/meat/cheese case (and lots of gluten free foods) but I don't think they have fish. Across the street and a few doors away is a vegetable market owned by this same friendly and helpful family. We heard there is a fish market in Positano but it is only open in the morning.

I spent about 4 weeks in Positano two years ago and I found compared to the other places in Italy I had been there were not a lot of markets - I never noticed a fish market, but there are a few that sell fruits and veggies. Also, it is not cheap to eat in Positano - it is mostly expensive restaurants...except down closer the water I found a little place where I could get a fresh basic sandwhich for about 3 or 4 euros.

My wife and I spent only three days in Positano (my wife's favorite city we visited). I don't recall seeing any fresh fish in any of the markets but, it was a short visit. There are a few places that sell fresh food and are stocked very well with about everything one could possibly want. One is not far from the Grotto Fornillo bus stop. We didn't find the cost to eat to be much different than any other cities we visited. Make sure you pick up a bottle of Lemoncello! Positano is the birthplace of this drink. Ciao

I am actually inquiring about the cottage you stayed in. We are currently looking at cottages and wanted to know if you enjoyed it and would recommend it. If so, please post on the forum where you stayed. Thanks. Blissfulliving.
