i haven't researched this at all, but i would guess flying ryanair to berlin and then taking a train to braunschweig would be the simplest way, and that's probably about as cheap as it gets. braunschweig is about 1-1 1/2 hours from berlin.

The nearest bigger airport is Hannover. You might be lucky to get a good rate to there.
The train from berlin is quite expensive. Sabs

I just checked at http://www.hannover-airport.de.
Air Berlin connects Stansted with Hannover once a day. British Airways has 3 flights a day from Gatwick, BM/Lufthansa have 3 a day from Heathrow! Try http://www.airberlin.de for the best deals probably. Sabs

Yes I tried to go by train from Wolfsburg to Berlin once and that was hideously expensive!

i'm surprised...i just went to goettingen (which is farther than braunschweig or wolfsburg) from berlin several weeks ago and it was only 55 euro roundtrip on the most expensive train (ICE).

I just checked train connections and prices. Braunschweig - Berlin Hauptbahnhof takes 1:17 by ICE. A one way ticket costs € 41,80. If you book a train earlier you might get reductions tho!
