Freiburg im Breisgau Mountain Biking

We are a group of Mountain Bike enthusiasts on a business trip to Freiburg from
17th – 20th May

We are planning to extend the trip to enjoy a Mountain Bike trail or two in the surrounding area.
and will be returning to the UK from Basil by train on the 23rd May.

Can anyone offer advice on good trails, Mountain Bike Hire, and Youth Hostel type stopover accommodation on route to Basil.

Forstamt Freiburg has published a map called "Mountainbike-Streckenkarte Freiburg" which is available for EUR 0.50.

Maybe drop them a line and check if you can order it or buy a copy in Freiburg.

This website (in German only): http://regiowebcam.de/index.php?id=1631 briefly introduces a couple of tours.
One of the tours, Westweg (http://www.westweg.de), is a hiking/bike trail that links Pforzheim with Basel.

Bicyling is generally allowed if the trail has a width of at least 2m (3m in nature reserves) even if not expressively said so.
