Re: Puerto Azul Hotel Posted: Mon April 23, 2007 05:59 PM UTC
We have stayed in the Puerto Azul Hotel twice over the last two years. Thoroughly enjoyed it. We also stayed in the Hotel Rio Sol just up from the Puerto Azul. Really enjoyed both hotels. You are quite high up so it would be adviseable to get a taxi down to the flat only 3 euros. It was ok walking down all the steps but getting up was a different story, did it once that was enough.
The Europe Centre is not far from the Puerto Azul just up the hill a bit. A lot of shops, bars etc., but the Centre at the bottom of the hill called the Commercial Centre was a lot better. Plenty of eating places and all very different. A lot of shops if you enjoy browsing like I did and they don't close until quite late. Also make a point of going to Puerto Morgan which is just around the coast. They have a great all day market every Friday and Morgan itself is lovely plenty of more up market restaurants and the flower displays are to be seen to be believed. We went there by bus and came back by boat. The Hotel itself is lovely but a bit like a maze. Hope you get a room with balcony overlooking the bay. I actually emailed the Hotel directly and give them the name of the tour company and my reference number, name etc., and asked them for a room with an excellent view. I got a reply straight back and they said they would arrange same. When I got there I was surprised with the room and its view. I was delighted sometimes it pays to just go for it. I just adore Puerto Rico and the people are all very friendly and helpful. I hope to go back at the end of Aug for two weeks. My teenage sons also enjoyed it plenty of night life for them, clubs, disco etc., They are also going back with all their own friends next time. Hope you have a nice time.
