| Doha | 3 Days in Doha Posted: Thu April 19, 2007 08:21 AM UTC
Hello
I'm planning to visit Doha in May for about three days for business. I've some questions: 1. Is there any 5 stars hotel near Doha City Center Mall? If not how far 5 stars hotels from the mall by Taxi? 2. What is the best hotels in Doha? 3. What is MUST SEE & DO in Doha? 4. Any suggestion for restaurants? 5. Any Internet Cafe with private booths? 6. What time shopping centers open and close? Thanks, |

Name a big hotel chain, and you'll find one of their properties in Doha. The closest to City Center are the Four Seasons and the Sheraton. I have lived in Doha for almost two years, and I can't think of single must-see or must-do. The problem for most folks is finding ANYTHING to do for fun. You might take a taxi to Souq Waqif or walk the Corniche. Other than that it's just hit the hotel bars and the souqs.
Shopping is on a morning & evening schedule. Some places are open all day, but a lot close from 1:00 to 4:30. Restaurants? There are plenty of Turkish, Iranian, and Indian restaurants. Yes, there are internet cafes. It is very hard to find a taxi once you wander away from the big shopping malls and the hotels.

The Four Seasons is not that far from the city center. Almost every hotel near the city center is at least 4 star. I prefer the Ritz, Four Seasons and the Intercontinental. All have fantastic restaurants, Massaya (attached to the Doha Club) is delicious and La Mer inside the Ritz is fabulous. By taxi the hotels I listed are about 15 - 30 min depending on traffic. The City Center is great for shopping, also check out Royal Plaza for another great shopping destination. All hotels have night clubs inside or cigar bars which are great for meeting people and congregating with others. Don't know about Internet Cafe's with Booths? The malls open at 9am and close for 3 hours around noon and re-open at 4 until 9 or 10. Hope this helps and have a wonderful time. It's a beautiful place.
