A nice affordable place is the Lehns Motel. most other places is way too expensive, i think Lehns was about 35$/night.

the second question about nightlife...well you chose the wrong destination.

Theres NOTHING todo on Palau other than diving, in my opinion.

Only thing close to nightlife is "frasiers" (spelling?) where some western turists usually go even its mostly a mature audience. Other than that Palau is dead when diving is over.

btw watch out for the taxies, they try to rip you off, especially when going to/from the airport. They will try to charge you 20-30$ for a 15 min drive. the locals would pay 3-4$ for the same trip.

Stayed last July 2006, at the West Plaza Desekel ( Palau ):phone: 9-011-488-2521

It was clean -- no pool but close to town. There was grocery store beneath the hotel/motel. Free coffee in the lobby.

Palau is beautiful even if you do not dive to explore the many islands and the like. I will update my Palau page one of these days. But I had a great time.

Nothing? No nature hiking, beach hopping/boating, snorkeling etc? No local restaurants, culture etc? No places to meet other travellers and hang out?
