I am planning to settle in Phillipines later this summer; what are good cities to settle in Phillipines with nice weather and amenities? Would welcome suggestions about pros and cons of living in this country, rental (apartments) information (professional rental agencies etc in Manila and other major cities), general cost of living and standard of life, medical facilities etc. Is there Dish TV like service there for US tv Channels?

You must have come from the US then. Anyways, I've read before in a magazine (forgot the mag though) that Davao City was the only Philippine city which made it to the top 20 best places to live in Asia. Havent been there but a few of my friends did. All they had to say were praises.

You are right Nimato..in fact my husband who is also an American likes Davao very much. We are actually living here right now and doesn't plan to go to the States yet since our life is easier here. Cost of living in Davao is not really as expensive as Manila and Cebu.

Yes Shabash..we have cable TV here that airs US TV channels. We've got good hospital facilities as well and as I said earlier the cost of living here is not as expensive as Manila and Cebu.

Do check out information for the following cities:

1. Manila - You can find everything here, as in everything you could ever need. But the city is crowded, polluted, and crimes are quite common.

2. Cebu - Queen city of the south. Rich in culture, has great natural sites, and a well established education and medical system.

3. Davao - They say that this city is very peacful and the standard of living is very reasonable. This city is located way down south of the Philippines. It also has a sizeable number of good schools and hospitals.

4. Baguio City - Cool mountain weather. This is basically a university town/city. This city provides locals with an easy escape from the scorching heat and humidity of Manila and other cities.

5. Puerto Princesa City - This city is very clean and beautiful, quite soothing too which cannot be said for Manila or Cebu. I'm just not quite sure regarding the standard of education and medical care here. But the food is relatively cheap compared to other cities.

Are there any cable tv channels from India?

yep!
sahara 1, national and another 1 i forgot the stations name.
hehehe its really interesting to see all of those indian flicks!
you can get these from cable, destiny has those 3 but with home/ sky cable
im not pretty sure. ah those are names of cable companies.
