Brunei Travel Forum

I understand that the Sultan of Brunei's birthday is on the 15th July. Does anyone know whether it is advisable to visit Brunei during this period (e.g. 13-15th July?). I am afraid it may be very crowded and a lot of the attractions may be closed to celebrate the sultan's birthday.

An alternative for me for the visit would be 6-8th July, is this period better than 13-15th July?

The Sultan's Birthday is said to be among the best time to visit Brunei when the capital city will be lively with celebrations. Not so sure on the city's attractions will still be opened for visitors (Brunei Museum, Regalia, mosques etc) but I'm pretty sure the city's main attarction - Kampung Air - can still be visited. Maybe local VTers can give some info on this.

well, it are welcome to visit Brunei. But as usual all the attraction will be closed. Ah! why not you visit on june. It is a big event happen in Brunei. Trust me. you love it.But anywhere you can check the information regarding this situation. But i think you should go in early June. I cannot discuss the event yet. It is a suprise! Dont missed it. It only happen during this year.

Thanks for your advice! Actually I will be coming to brunei for a work meeting on 9-12 July 2007, which is why I can only go for sightseeing either before the meeting (6-8 July) or after the meeting (13-15 July). June will be too early for me to visit brunei :)

Looks like most likely I will choose the sightseeing on 6-8 July before my meeting in brunei :)
