Does anyone have any experience of Kompas car rental in Croatia?

I am considering renting a car from them to pick up in Rovinj, however, accoring to emails i have received from them the office is not yet open. They say it will be completed by June and my online booking will be ok but i am not sure if this is too risky or not - considering they want payment now.

Does anyone know if they are reputable or not?

Kompas is a company that exists some 30years at least, this is what I remember, they have agency offices in many cities and towns in Croatia, so I do not believe that dealing through then is risky.

I am not sure about the ownership of the company as I think Kompas Rent a Car is a franchise for Europcar in Croatia. I did notice a while back that Kompas was now part of Adriatica but I am not sure if that included the car hire franchise.

If you are unsure why not shop around as it is surely better to feel reassured than to worry about your holiday.

I have rented a car at Kompas last month in Pula. I am used to have a good counter service worldwide and I am used to pay very good for all my car rental needs. To be honest croatian Kompas rent a car was the best company. They delivered us a car for free of charge, they provided us all the instructions for croatian tour. They were max. helpful and kindness.

Since I am familiar with car industry I am informed that Kompas is in Croatia since 1971 and since than holds it's quality standards.

Last month I have rented a car at Kompas rentals in Rijeka Airport and returned it Rovinj. Meeting point was at my hotel. I didn't pay pay for delivery at all.

I've got a feeling that they aren't doing this to take money but just to satisfy the customer.

They call it "boura" the wind that stop plane to land at Dubrovnik Airport. I booked the car last winter at Kompas and I had to to pick it up at their office at the airport. Since plane landed at Split, rental representative solved the problem by colling his collegue in Split. He arrived to the airport around midnight and rented me a car. I was fascinated since nobody ever did that for me and Kompas rent a car did. I will never forgot how many problems could be have if Mr. Marco from Kompas Rent Dubrovnik didn't helped us.
