I have never been to Central America before.
I'm thinking of going to visit the Mayan ruins in Guatemala, Hunduras,and the Yucatan in mid May. Would this be in the rainy season? I don't want to visit when it is hurricane season. |

This would be the beginning of the rainy season, where it is likely to rain for maybe a couple hours each day. This will mostly affect your ability to reach remote untouristed places. Hurricane season is not until a few months later.

Rain is just a fact of life in a Guatemalan May. It is a factor but it doesn't stop anyone from going and doing. Wear a hat and waterproof jacket but GO. It is a beautiful time of year with everything green and blooming. Let us know what you think about the country. It's fun to see it through another person's eyes.
